Mike and Tamara
The "Griggs" is getting married! When I first meet Mike he was moping around because of some 'she-devil'; needless to say, things have changed and the world was set right for Miguel when Tamara came along.
I've been trying to up my game in the photography world and am glad I got the chance to shoot some engagement pictures for these two. Mike and Tamara, "THANK YOU!"

Dominican Republic
A weekend in the Dominican Republic is a great way to forget the chilly October weather of Provo, at least for a little while that is. Honestly though, it was an exciting trip to Puerto Plata, DR... a chance to get a little too much sun, lay out by the beach, check out some sweet waterfalls, drink pina coladas and bahama mama's (virgin of course), and finish up some business investments.

Sports Broadcasting
I've been student teaching at Wasatch High in Heber, UT. Lacie Jensen and I went up to the Rice Eccles Stadium with two students to broadcast the WHS vs Park City girls soccer game and then got to watch the Real vs LA Galaxy soccer game, all from the press boxes. Ozzy Torres, who has been in a few of my classes, along with Ben did a great job broadcasting the game; I'm impressed with the opportunities that these students are able to experience at Wasatch High School.

Vuikadavu Wedding
A beautiful day for a wedding. Taking pictures after the wedding was a full out WAR! I think the host at the temple said there were 60 weddings at the temple that day and finding a place to shoot was an art in and of itself. The reception was held at my parents house here in Provo and was an awesome Fijian style, laid back party with roasted pigs, tiki torches, and island dancers.

Melinda and Aisake
Melinda and Aisake are good friends of the fam so I've been helping them get their engagement photos taken. Weather on the day of shooting couldn't have been better and it was fun to work with them. Here are a few of my favorites, check 'em out! Oh yeah, and if there's anyone that likes my work just let me know if I can help you with your next photographic experience.

What are we REQUIRED to LEARN?
Here are a few questions that I thought of while preparing a presentation on instructional technology.
When was the last time you used the periodic table?
When was the last time you used a computer?
How often do you use algebra?
How often do you use the internet?

Technology is considered an elective course in most secondary schools. At best, technology is merely a means of entertainment in order for educators to "keep up" with their students. The aura of education is based on an idea that we must teach the 'classics' or those things that have withstood the winds of change (i.e. math, science, history, and language.) Since technology changes more often than some people change their socks it may be that some students will merely hear about the affects of technology on society while in a history class. However, if instructional technologies (more than just computer tools) were incorporated in classrooms to promote problem solving, effective research skills, creativity, critical thinking, and working in collaborative groups we could see a revolution occur. Educators could become facilitators of learning rather than giant urns of knowledge drowning saturated sponges with the 'all knowing' that they possess.
The 'classics' are essential to education and the education of technology is essential to societal growth. In order to stay current with instructional technology teachers must facilitate the education of problem solving, creativity, and critical thinking.

Superfan Brooklyn
Track Meet
THE FANS...
What a hot day for a race! I was there with the Lemmons to watch Cecily run the Womens 5K and brought my camera to the track meet to practice using the telephoto lens.
Cecily finished at 18:16.63, just barely out of reach for qualifying . . . still plenty of other chances though. She had plenty of fans, including little Brooklyn who kept yelling, "Run Cec, Run!"

Mission Reunion
The Valencia Venezuela Mission reunion was on March 30th but I haven't found a good picture to post. We had it at my parents house and over 150 people showed up. It was good to see people that we haven't seen for a long time, especially President and Sister Guerra. For some of us it's been over 2 years since we've last seen them, which made it hard for people to leave. I think we finally closed the door for the night at about 11:45pm (first time I've ever been to a reunion where you can't get people to leave.) It was a lot of fun and my parents are stellar for letting me host it at their home. I'll try to post some pictures when I find ones that turned out alright.

TTE in San Antonio
We had a great time in San Antonio at the 'Nerd Convention.' In between competitions, good food, site seeing, Six Flags, and a quick trip to the temple we, as a generally sarcastic bunch, bonded in a way that makes TTE the best major at BYU! We placed 1st in the teaching competition (I won't take ALL the credit for that one... sorry 'Mr. Annoying!') Since I've been back I've thought a lot about what a great university BYU really is. The quality of education we receive and the professors who facilitate our learning, at least in the TTE major, are incredible. Soon we will be out in the world teaching, an intimating thought and daunting task, but I hope that as we go out we will not only teach our students about technology but also be able to instill a desire to create and innovate.
